Happy Halloween!

We have fun around our house at Halloween time.  One of the things that Jeff loves to do most is play jokes on the kids, and me!, with Halloween props.  He has done several over the years.  One year, he bought a fake finger and some fake blood and pretended he cut his finger off while he was working in the garage.  He proceded to find me in the kitchen and at just the right time squirt the blood out.  He said I was white as a ghost at first, but after I found out it was just a joke, my reflexes kicked in and I gave him a good kick to the shin!  Another time he found these great gummy eye-balls at the store and  told the kids that they should be careful to always close their eyes when they sneeze because if they sneeze with their eyes open, their eyeball will fall out.  Then, about a half hour later he sneezed and dropped one of the eye balls to the floor.  He quickly covered his eye, screamed, and asked the kids if he could have one of their eyes.  I am not a good story teller, but this was so funny!  Riley covered both of his eyes and said "Don't take my eyes dad, don't take mine!" and the kids were in shock.  But, when the joke was unveiled, it was their favorite trick to play around the house for the rest of the season.
This year was mild.  Jeff just bought a fake hand and had his hand fall off as he had the kids give him high five.  It through Easton for a loop for a quick second (he is 4), but the kids are quick to catch on to dad's jokes now.

The kids drew and carved their own pumpkins this year.  They did a great job!

Here is a picture of them in their costumes.  They dressed up several times this year....twice for my preschool parties (they are off-track), for an annual party at my aunt's work, and on Halloween.  Easton was something different each time (he just chose something from a bunch of dress-ups we already have) but this is what they were on Halloween night (actually Sat. night when everyone celebrated).

Even Jeff and I dressed up this year because we had a party to attend.

And, we topped off the holiday with the children experiencing their first pumpkin smashing.  They enjoyed climbing onto the roof, especially Easton.

                                                                 Happy Halloween!
