One of the hikes we chose this last weekend was Battle Creek Falls up Battlecreek Canyon, just East of Orem. A great hike for families since it raises in elevation only 450 feet, and equals to be only 1.6 miles round-trip. But, don't let that mislead you, a very beautiful, fun hike. And, the pay-off at the end.....a 50 foot waterfall!
Unfortunately, we weren't able to get as many pictures of the fall colors as we would have liked but here is one with the kids:
And here are a couple of the falls:
You can hike down to the bottom of the falls, like we are in the above three pics, or it is a very short hike to the top, which is where this picture of the view of Utah lake was taken.
Call me crazy, but even though hiking is a lot of work, it is really relaxing. There are some hikes that Jeff thinks we have in our future (Notch Peak) that terrify me, but a lot of easy, relaxing ones too! Our next outing....a hike called The Living Room equipped with chairs, armrests, and coffee tables (this really is a hike up Red Butte Canyon).
