New Mexico

This past weekend we took a mini vacation down to New Mexico to visit Jeff's dad, Steve. Since we like to camp, we decided to make a camping trip of it as well. We had a great time. Jeff spent summers here visiting his dad, so it was great to be able to show the kids some of the places he grew up and some of the things he loved to do.
We enjoyed hikes by (and throwing rocks into) the flowing river next to our camp spot, boating on the lake, fishing, roasting marshmellows around the fire, climbing trees, and all the other fun stuff you do while camping......like getting dirty!! We even had some visits from Jeff's aunts while we were there. It was great to be able to catch up with Steve and see some family members we don't see much.

McKenzie collected some rocks for her "rock collection".

The raccoons came to visit each night.  They really enjoyed Roxy's dog food.  There were two of them....we think a male and a pregnant female.
Although the water was cold freezing, we couldn't keep the kids out of it!
Including the big kid!
Relaxing on the boat ride.....just like daddy!

On the way home, we decided to add a couple of hours to our (already long) drive and drive through Silverton to see the train, and the city of Ouray to see the waterfalls at Box Canon Park.  It really was fun though.  We enjoyed our hike up to the falls, it was beautiful.

An overall great trip!
